The occupation of Timor-Leste between 1975 and 1999 was an illegal act as
recognised worldwide, namely by United Nations Security Council Resolutions 384 of 22
December 1975, and 389 of 22 April 1976. This is the reason why Indonesia was unable
to succeed the Portuguese Administration in Timor-Leste.
